Franzi is the perfect example of someone who has taken their new skills and put them to the test in all things outdoors. After completing the Nepal Adventure Guide Program she has gone on to hike, climbing, canyon and raft through Mongolia, South America, Japan and United States of America opening up the door to new adventures. Thanks Franzi (@passionguidesyou) for keeping us updated on life post program; check out her epic journey below!

What have you been up to post program?

  • After my program in Nepal ended, I travelled to Mongolia, where I spent a month with nomads and their reindeer, goats, sheeps, cows and horses to join their unique lifestyle. After that I then travelled further with short stops in the Japanese Alps and California where I did epic hikes, rafting and Canyoning before entering South America. Here I will stay for a couple of months to volunteer and work in different places e.g. as a Trekking Guide and on a sleddog farm and will make my way down to the paradise of climbing and mountaineering - Patagonia. During the travels I take every chance to do any outdoor activity whether rock-climbing, hiking, water activities like kayaking, surfing to other upcoming possibilities of outdoor sports.

How did the Adventure Guide Program set you up for these adventures?

  • Although I already had 2.5 years of experience as a climbing instructor and canyoning guide, this program showed me a lot of new techniques and safety standards that I didn't learn in the training programs in Germany. Thanks to the program, I now have a larger skillset for different scenarios. Our unforgettable trekking tours at higher altitudes have also taught me a lot about how to get to higher altitudes in a relaxed and well-conditioned way. It can be a challenge to lead a group with very different fitness levels. The experience I gained from the program will help me a lot in the future. Our white water sessions have given me a lot more confidence and respect for the mighty white water. These are just a few examples of my personal impressions from the program. Even though I had previous experience in all parts of the program, I took something away from every part of the program.

What was the biggest highlight from your program?

  • My biggest highlights definitely have been the many days being in camping mode and appreciating the outdoor life in each different spot out there. By not having a permanent base, we saw a lot of different areas off the beaten path. Always being together with the Nepali team of Amrit gave us a big bonus of local culture experiences.

What was a challenge you had to overcome during your program?

  • A challenge was to get together as a groups of diverse individuals from all over the worlds with many different aims for the time and challenges throughout the program. With every group experience, at the end of the programme we were a joined group where everyone contributed into an overall success of the programme.

What advice would you give to someone who is looking to do the Adventure Guide Program?

There are reasons why this programme in Nepal is also known as the most challenging location. But with all the upcoming challenges you make the most of it.
